Pride and Pleasure: The Intersections of Pleasure and Inclusion in Sex Education
Friday, October 6, 2023 | 2:30pm – 3:30pm EST
Conversations about sexual health with clients become engaging and effective when we emphasize the positive outcomes of safer sex practices and affirm their identity. Including the LGBTQ+ community in the world of sex education begins with respecting the lived experiences of queer people and shifting the narrative away from fear or risk-based talking points.
We will discuss how letting go of shame and internalized stigma around sex and STIs can empower people to take responsibility for their sexual health. Ultimately, creating a safe space for marginalized communities to have open and honest dialogue can be a powerful tool to learn about and meet their needs.
